Den Bynære Havneområde, Århus Harbour Denmark, StratacellAfter the success of a previous project within the City of Århus, the city architects and landscape architects decided to continue using the Stratacell™ concept on a big harbour refurbishment. This high profile project is extensive and installation will take many years. By working with Milford (Citygreen’s® Scandinavian partner company) using Stratacells they will help ensure the trees continue to grow and develop into large established trees whilst growing in a windy urban environment.

 

Installation of Stratacells

 

Installation of Stratacells was overseen by one of Milford’s horticultural advisors to ensure peace of mind for both the city and the landscape contractor that the project was up to the highest standards. The landscape contractor was amazed how quickly each tree pit could be built up. Landscape architects from the area were also invited to come and watch installation as this gives inspiration and practical knowledge for future projects.

 

 

Stratacells InstallationThe 32 Platanus acerfolia trees were planted in November 2011 (in the second stage, after these photos) and a review of the trees including materials will be conducted during the next 5 years in view of using the same concept in the other areas of the harbour when they come up for development.
