Stratavault

Introducing

Stratavault has always been made with 100% recycled plastic material.

Now, in partnership with the Ocean Legacy Foundation, Citygreen are supporting the collection of plastics from the North Pacific Ocean and shorelines of British Colombia, Canada, for use in the making of Stratavault.

Sourced, processed and manufactured in North America, Stratavault with Ocean Legacy Plastic is only available in the North American market as part of our commitment to circular economy manufacturing in our local regions.

Choosing Stratavault with Ocean Legacy Plastic soil cells isn’t just the greenest choice you can make. It’s now also the bluest.

Cycle Local

Citygreen practices circular economy manufacturing, using local recycled content and local supply chains for manufacturing in Australia, USA and Canada. When you choose Stratavault, you’re support jobs in your local region and making a good choice for the environment.

Engineered for Infrastructure and Tree Performance

Our Promise to You

Urban trees planted with Citygreen systems deliver generational benefits and coexist in harmony with modern infrastructure.

  • Trees grow faster with Stratavault, enabling higher volumes of carbon dioxide to be sequestered from the air we breathe allowing you to achieve net zero goals sooner
  • Achieve a minimum of twice the tree canopy in half the time, offsetting urban heat island effect twice as fast
  • Tree roots will not interfere with services or cause pavement heave
  • Save time and money during installation with the only structural soil cell system that can be customized on site to accommodate unexpected services (no pre-cutting required)

  • Solve stormwater pollution with our WSUD methodology Strataflow which harvests, cleans and stores stormwater, giving trees access to passive irrigation and significantly reducing tree maintenance
  • Trees develop strong, healthy root systems and are more likely to withstand extreme climate events because all their growing conditions are met
  • As a responsible manufacturer, we use only 100% recycled plastic in the making of Stratavault, supporting local supply chains in North America and Australia, manufacturing locally in each region

Net Zero Climate Strategies Need Stratavault

Many Cities are still planting street trees with Structural Soil. Trees planted this way get only a fraction of the soil they need, with that soil then being subjected to heavy compaction to provide structural support to surrounding pavement. Known in the industry as a tree coffin, trees planted like this struggle, and the rate of failure is alarming, as high as 80% needing to be replaced inside every 10 years in some areas.

Stratavault replaces structural soil to provide the structural integrity needed for roads and pavements, the space trees need to develop climate resilient root systems and 93% of the soil requirements trees need to thrive.

Simply planting more trees will not achieve net zero climate objectives. Street tree planting methods directly affect growth and longevity, and achieving tree canopy and cooling targets. Stratavault grows healthier, bigger urban trees, faster.

Comparative Case Study (above): Ashfield City Council (now Inner West Council) wanted to compare Stratavault soil cells and structural soil as street tree planting methods. Chinese Elms were chosen and planted in the same location, at the same size, in the same week, and maintained in the same way.

In just 5 years, Stratavault grew a tree canopy 3-4 times bigger than the tree planted using structural soil.

Engineering advantages

  • Highly efficient design: circular economy manufacturing minimizes materials required while maximizing structural and tree performance
  • Engineered system: modules assemble to form an interconnected matrix, so applied loads are shared and lateral strength maximized
  • Self contained system: no zip ties, screws or ground spikes required to lock the system together (just fast, hassle-free assembly on site)
  • Fastest soil cell system assembly in the market: modules ‘snap-together’, providing highly efficient assembly time on site (avg approx 2 mins/m³)
  • Flexibility to work with services: Increased apertures accommodate larger conduits, service pipes and aeration systems

  • Strong and environmentally conscious: Made from high density 100% recycled polymers engineered and tested to exceed load compliance requirements
  • Modules are designed to nest, giving significant volume reduction, and minimising shipping costs.
  • Built to last: backed by a 20 year manufacturer’s warranty, but designed to last and deliver generational benefits
  • Made in strategic locations in North America and Australia; supporting local industries and supply chains meeting ISO standards 9001 and 14021 and responsible manufacturing
  • Continuous physical laboratory tests of strength are conducted to ensure integrity of modules and quality assurance with every production batch (Finite Element Analysis testing is also conducted during the design stages and backed by batch static and cyclic load testing in 3rd party laboratories).

“Great customer service, quick response times and a very in depth QA system with constant support.”

- Laura Wiesenekker, Project Engineer, Densford Civil -

“Citygreen is a very professional  business, and I found everything was great in terms of deliveries, product supply and information. It was all forthcoming and helped us to complete the project.”

- Keith Burns, Architect/Designer, Keith Burns Architect -

“Citygreen offered training and invaluable technical assistance during the works.”

- James Callan, Estimating Manager, Complex Co Pty Ltd -

“Our experience, in working with a Citygreen Design Studio was second to none. We found responses from the design studio to be very timely, and technically thorough. We went backwards and forwards a number of times, looking at different iterations of the design and, nothing was too much trouble to examine and explore different possibilities. I would highly recommend the Citygreen Design Studio to any future client considering using your services.”

- Sandra Smith, Principal Landscape Architect, City Of Monash -

“We are big on compliance on all projects, and the fact that their SmartCertify cloud platform covers all bases, and supports their 20 year warranties, is critical – especially that these pits are being installed under roadways and footpaths.”

- Johny Purkaystha, Civil Program Engineer, Central Coast Council -

"I reviewed all the previous projects that we have installed in the past couple years using your product and I can happily report back that we have 0% mortality in the soil cells, which is incredible!"

- Brendan Wilton, CEO, Trim Landscaping, Bedford, Canada -
