Stratavault ensures long-term success of upgraded Streetscape in Toronto Town Centre
Toronto is a lakeside suburb within the city of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales. In 2017, Lake Macquarie City Council embarked on an upgrade of The Boulevarde, located in the town centre, assisted by Opus for landscape architecture and engineering. Corey Milton, of Lake Macquarie City Council, said, “The existing landscape structures had failed due to age and the root systems of old growth figs. The primary objective was to bring the street up to a modern look with a new sense of identity. Introducing new trees was key to achieving this objective, but we wanted to create a space that could support hardscaped areas and provide a long-term root zone for the street trees to avoid concrete uplift problems in future.
Why Stratavault?
“Citygreen’s Stratavault system was selected to fill the needs required for this project. The results have reflected exactly what the system claims to do – providing enough strength to support the concrete slabs above while allowing space below for the trees to generate root growth and become established within the environment.
Corey concluded, “Citygreen is a great local company who are happy to meet onsite and are easy to communicate with. Their knowledge of their products ensures the stratavault installation process goes smoothly and the results of the project speak for themselves.”
