Value of the Urban Forest

Think about how the natural habitat and ecological systems can be restored by enhancing the urban forest.

Researchers have valued the contribution of urban forests  at $500 million for the average megacity—or $35 per resident. These same cities could find room for 20% more forest and would almost double the benefits by doing so.

These financial benefits come from lowered temperatures that save on energy use, moisture absorption that reduces  stormwater management costs, and air pollution removal that improves public health.  Urban trees not only cut costs but also are proven to increase property values and bring a range of intangible benefits to communities.

Urban trees support stronger social connections and  physical activity as residents spend more time outdoors Trees also provide an increased sense of happiness and  well-being, not to mention the resources and habitats they provide for other species here on earth.

The bigger the tree species, the more soil it needs. Available soil volume will influence all of the following - survival, growth rate, longevity, and health.
