What is special about me?
I am a multi-function tree. That means that I am taking rainwater from the road pavement, cleaning it, drinking it through my root system to grow bigger, and releasing the clean water to our river systems.
Benefits to environment
Trees absorb carbon (CO2), reducing the overall concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Tree windbreaks can reduce residential heating costs 10-15%; while shading and evaporative cooling from trees can cut residential air-conditioning costs 20-50%.
One tree can produce up to 260 pounds of oxygen each year, meaning; 2 mature trees can provide enough oxygen to support a family of 4.
Trees act as natural water filters and help significantly slow the movement of storm water, which lowers total runoff volume, soil erosion and flooding.
